Born in Rome in 1956. Graduate in Economics and Business from Sapienza University, from 1980 to 1997 he held various roles within different Governmental Offices. From 1997 until 2000, he was City Manager of the municipality of Milan.
From 2000 until 2004 he was Director General of Confindustria, the Italian Association of enterprises. From 2004 to 2011 he was Chief Executive Officer of Fastweb, the second Fixed Line Telecommunication operator in Italy. From 2009 to 2011 he was President of ASSTEL, the Association of the Telecommunications companies.
From 2011 to 2012, Stefano also held the role of Senior Advisor for The Royal Bank of Scotland in Italy. He is Chairman of Confindustria Digitale, the Federation of ICT industrial representation created with the aim of promoting the Digital Agenda. Stefano is Chairman and main shareholder of Chili S.p.A. a platform of video streaming to rent and sell movies on line.
